PRES 3

PRES 3 Exam Ireland:OSCE & Data Interpretation Guide

PRES 3 is the clinical OSCE and data interpretation exam set by the Irish Medical Council (IMC), the second and final component of Ireland's Pre-Registration Examination System (PRES) for international medical graduates. It is held in person in Dublin, combining an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) of roughly 12–16 stations with a data interpretation assessment. Candidates must pass PRES 2 before they are eligible to sit PRES 3.

What is PRES 3?

PRES 3 is the practical, clinical component of Ireland's Pre-Registration Examination System (PRES), set by the Irish Medical Council (IMC). It combines an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) with a data interpretation assessment, and is the final exam step before an eligible international medical graduate can proceed toward Irish registration.

Unlike PRES 2, which is a written exam, PRES 3 requires candidates to travel to Dublin in person — there is no remote or international sitting option.
